Baldor Electric Co. introduces a new service to identify energy saving opportunities. Using state-of-the-art data collection equipment and software, Baldor’s Installed Based Evaluation (IBE) specialists perform a survey of motors and mechanical products in operation and also from spare inventory. The data is analyzed to produce a comprehensive report with recommendations for immediate actions, plus long term strategies that will lead to significant energy savings.
Electric motors account for over 25% of total U.S. energy use, and motorized equipment accounts for 64% of the electricity U.S. manufacturers consume. By identifying old, inefficient motors and replacing them with Baldor●Reliance Super-E premium efficient designs, adding adjustable speed drives and more efficient mechanical power transmission products, companies can drastically cut their energy consumption, according to the company.
Beyond energy savings, an IBE can also provide the end-user the framework for a motor management plan, and Operational Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) initiative. The evaluation is said to help maintenance, operations, and procurement personnel plan preventive maintenance programs that will increase uptime and productivity.
